OpenAI introduces Pulse, enhancing ChatGPT's personalization for $200 monthly

published on 28 September 2025

OpenAI has unveiled Pulse, a new feature for its ChatGPT platform, offering daily personalized updates for users at a monthly subscription cost of $200. By analyzing user activity overnight, Pulse aims to deliver tailored insights designed to streamline daily tasks and enhance productivity.

How Pulse Works

Exclusively available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers, Pulse uses a combination of chat history, saved memory, and user feedback to generate customized updates. OpenAI explained its process, stating, "Each night, it synthesises information from your memory, chat history, and direct feedback to learn what’s most relevant to you, then delivers personalised, focused updates the next day."

Pulse can integrate with external services like Gmail and Google Calendar, allowing users to receive reminders about meetings, suggestions for gift purchases, or even recipe ideas. These updates are presented as visual cards that can be tapped for additional details. Users retain control over what Pulse can access and generate, as OpenAI emphasized that privacy and user autonomy remain a priority.

Availability and Pricing

Currently, Pulse is offered exclusively to ChatGPT Pro users for $200 per month. OpenAI has announced plans to expand the feature to Plus subscribers, who pay $20 per month, and eventually to all ChatGPT users.

The personalized updates generated by Pulse are temporary, available only for the day they are delivered. However, users can save them within a chat to review later. OpenAI noted that while the system strives to anticipate users’ needs, it may occasionally produce irrelevant suggestions, such as updates on completed tasks.

Competing in a Growing Market

Pulse is part of a broader trend in AI-driven tools that aim to proactively assist users. Samsung’s Now Bar and Now Brief, for example, offer users free daily guidance on topics like health, routines, and travel while utilizing on-device data security measures. Similarly, Perplexity's Comet browser enables users to automate tasks across platforms, and services like Gemini and Dia browser streamline task management with customizable shortcuts.

OpenAI’s Pulse seeks to differentiate itself by positioning ChatGPT as more than just a reactive chatbot, transforming it into a proactive digital assistant designed to seamlessly integrate into daily life. By delivering personalized updates, OpenAI hopes to elevate ChatGPT’s utility and further cement its role in the competitive world of AI-powered tools.
